Nigerian singer Bella Shmurda has shared a surprising story about how far he once went to raise money for his music career.
Speaking during an interview on Echo Room, the singer recalled stealing his neighbour’s son’s bicycle while living in Okoko, Lagos.
Bella Shmurda said he took the bicycle at night and later sold it in Alaba for ₦7,000. He used the money to pay for studio sessions as he worked to build his music career.
He said he has since found the boy and tried to make up for what happened by buying him a new bicycle.
Bella Shmurda also admitted that his mother would probably be angry if she heard him telling the story.
He said: “If my mom hears this, she’ll be angry. When we lived in Okoko, I once stole my neighbor’s son’s bicycle and hid it at night. I sold it in Alaba for ₦7,000 to pay for studio sessions. I’ve seen him since and bought him a new bicycle.”
