Madonna University Expels Nursing Students Over Viral Video Warning Patients

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has asked Madonna University Nigeria to reconsider the expulsion of some nursing students over a viral video made during their hospital posting.

The students were reportedly punished after the video, which showed them joking about being in hospitals, went viral and drew widespread attention.

In the clip, they were heard saying, “No sick o, na Gen Z full hospital,” while the caption read, “No sick oo, nah Gen Z full hospital.”

NANS admitted that the students’ behaviour was inappropriate and amounted to misconduct. However, the association urged the university to replace the expulsion with a stern warning or other disciplinary measures.

The affected students are undergoing nursing training that includes clinical postings and hospital-based learning. NANS said they should be allowed to continue their education under strict conditions.

The students’ body also appealed to the university management to show clemency, stressing that the punishment should correct the misconduct rather than permanently disrupt their academic and professional careers.

The university has not publicly disclosed whether it will review the expulsion or accept the students’ appeal.
