Kidnappers Abduct Six-Month-Old Baby Through Window In Oyo, Family Seeks Help

The family of six-month-old Faaiz has appealed for help to find him after he was allegedly abducted through a window in their home in Erunmu, Egbeda Local Government Area of Oyo State.

The incident reportedly happened in the early hours of September 16, while the baby slept beside his mother, Mrs Asimau Olasunkanmi, in their three-bedroom apartment.

Olasunkanmi told PUNCH Metro that she discovered he was missing when she woke up to breastfeed him before the early morning prayer.

“I wanted to observe the routine by picking up my baby to breastfeed him, only for me to look beside me and he was nowhere to be found. I checked everywhere, but I could not find my baby,” she said.

One of her children, who slept near the window, noticed the damaged net covering it.

“I looked in the same direction and discovered the net had been severed, indicating that my baby had been abducted,” she added.

The mother said there were no other visible signs of entry. She lived in the house with her three children, and the building had no fence.

“I want help in whatever way; please support me. There’s a Yoruba adage that says a dead child is better than a missing child,” she said.

“Now I can’t find the corpse nor my living child.”

The father, Taiwo Isiak, said they reported the case to Ogungbade Police Station that morning. It was later transferred to the Anti-Kidnapping Squad in Dugbe, Ibadan.

He said the family had received no police update for two weeks. A family friend, Akinyode Waliyulah, confirmed that other security agencies, including the NSCDC, had been contacted. He said the window had no burglary-proof protection and expressed hope that Faaiz would be found.
