Kelechi Iheanacho Emerges Best Player In Turkey

Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho has been named the best player of the opening eight rounds of the Turkish 1. Lig by beIN SPORTS after his impressive start at Bursaspor.

Iheanacho received the award during the beIN 1. Lig programme, where moderator Turgay Keskin and commentator Tunç Kayacı also picked Bursaspor as the best team of the opening eight rounds.

The 29-year-old has scored 11 goals and made two assists in eight league games. He has found the net in every match since joining the Turkish club as a free agent this summer.

His goals have helped Bursaspor win six and draw one of their first eight matches, leaving them top of the table with 19 points.

Iheanacho scored twice in their 2-1 comeback win over Batman Petrolspor on September 19, including the 85th-minute winner. The brace took his scoring run to eight straight league games and saw him match Fernandao’s club record from the 2014/15 season.

His form also earned him a Super Eagles recall, with coach Eric Chelle naming him for Nigeria’s October 6 friendly against Russia.

Iheanacho joined Bursaspor after leaving Celtic, where he won the Scottish league and cup double last season. He previously played for Sevilla and Middlesbrough.
