It Is A Fact That Poverty Increased In Anambra During Peter Obi’s Tenure — Journalist Rufai Oseni

Political analyst and Journalist Rufai Oseni has called for facts to guide the debate over Peter Obi’s time as Anambra State governor.

Oseni said poverty rose in Anambra during Obi’s tenure, even though the former governor made progress in other areas.

He said, “Poverty actually increased in Anambra under Peter Obi. It’s a fact. Go and check NBS figures. From about the late 40 something percent, over 50 something percent.”

He, however, admitted that Obi had notable achievements in education.

“Did you do some other things? Yes. Did you take the state from 26 position to number one position in WAEC? Yes, there are facts to that,” he stated.

Oseni said Obi must also explain how he would apply his plans nationwide ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

“I would like to see how he can produce that 10,000 megawatts. I would like to see how we fix production, the consumption to production… Is there an industrial plan? I would like to see his plan on health care. I would like to see his plan on subsidy,” he said.

He also questioned whether state-level policies could work across Nigeria and urged Obi to defend his record while giving clear answers on the country’s key challenges.
