A Nigerian-born United States Army soldier, Uzoamaka, has made an emotional appeal to President Donald Trump for a visa exemption so her critically ill daughter can leave Nigeria for urgent medical treatment in the U.S.
In a tearful TikTok video trending online, Uzoamaka said social media was her “last resort” after official efforts failed.
She said she moved to the U.S. about 10 years ago, became an American citizen and joined the U.S. Army. She has been separated from her daughter in Nigeria for a decade.
According to her, her daughter completed all required U.S. immigration processes but remains stranded because of the current visa restrictions.
“I’m at the verge of losing my daughter,” she said, adding that her daughter became critically ill while waiting to travel and needs quality medical care that is difficult to access in Nigeria.
Uzoamaka said her appeal was humanitarian, not political, and that she respected U.S. immigration laws and national security concerns.
“My plea right now is not about politics, but a humanitarian one, a compassionate one, one that you should review carefully and consider.”
She said she had medical records proving her daughter’s condition and asked Trump to make an exception.
“Please, help me reunite with my daughter.”
The soldier said she had contacted her commanders and Senator Amy Klobuchar, but no solution had been found. She also said she could not return to Nigeria because of U.S. security warnings about the country.
Uzoamaka further said she contacted CNN and Fox News without receiving a response.
“I’m begging of you. As of today, my daughter’s illness is so critical. It’s so critical. I’m losing my mind.
“Please, look into this policy. Grant my daughter’s visa. I’m begging of you, even if it means just one of them.”
The appeal has since gone viral, with many social media users urging U.S. authorities to consider humanitarian exceptions for critically ill family members.
