Five people have reportedly died in a road crash involving a GUO Logistics truck and a bus along the Ijebu–Epe Road.
The bus was carrying students who had travelled from Gombe to Lagos to seek Industrial Training (IT) opportunities when the truck allegedly left its lane and rammed into it from the opposite direction.
The victims were identified as Isiyaku Sa’idu, Maigana Mohammed (Abbati), Anas Abubakar, the bus driver, Zaiyanu Bajoga and Abubakar Ibrahim.
However, a statement on the incident has raised concerns over how GUO Logistics representatives allegedly responded after the crash. It accused some company staff of focusing on protecting the firm’s image instead of helping victims. One staff member was also reportedly seen trying to remove the company’s name from the truck.
The statement further claimed that there was no confirmation, at the time of its release, that the company had contacted the families of the dead victims or provided enough support for injured passengers still receiving treatment.
“This is unacceptable! Human lives must matter more than corporate reputation,” the statement declared.
It called for a full investigation, justice for the bereaved families and proper medical care for survivors.
“GUO Logistics must answer serious questions about this incident,” it stated, insisting that the cause of the deaths must be established and those responsible held accountable.
It added that although the lives lost cannot be brought back, “No company should be allowed to place its reputation above the lives and dignity of innocent Nigerians.”
