Manchester City manager Enzo Maresca has dismissed fears of anxiety in the dressing room following the club’s guilty verdict over breaches of the Premier League’s financial rules.
Speaking in an interview posted by the club on Thursday, Maresca said the players were eager to return to action after the international break, with their attention firmly on football.
“The feeling is fantastic, to be honest! The players are excited for the next two games,” he said.
“But especially because, in this moment, we are top of the league, so the players are just focused on that.
“Our players here at Manchester City know what we can control; the football side.
“They’re not worried at all about different things.”
City have appealed the verdict, but the outcome could have serious consequences for the club if the decision stands.
The Premier League champions could face a points deduction or even relegation from the top flight if the ruling is upheld.
