‘Don’t Be in a Hurry, Nigeria Was Not Spoiled by Him’ — Actor Hanks Anuku Urges Nigerians to Give Tinubu More Time to Fix Nigeria

Veteran Nollywood actor Hanks Anuku has urged Nigerians to give President Bola Tinubu more time, saying the country’s problems did not start under his administration.

Speaking on The Honest Bunch podcast, Anuku said Tinubu inherited several challenges and should be allowed to carry out his plans.

“Nigeria has to be patient for the renewed hope of this man (Tinubu), and the country was not spoiled by him, you know. There were people there before him now,” Anuku said.

“Why didn’t they go and attack those people? He has to fix it now. He’s doing great. Nigeria should be patient. We’re in too much of a hurry.”

The actor also backed Tinubu staying in office for his full constitutional term.

“I’m going to be hanging out with Mr President himself. There’s nothing you can do about that. He has to serve his term, his tenure, you know,” he said.

Anuku said replacing Tinubu could bring a worse leader, adding, “So the devil, you know, is better.” He also denied being paid to support the government.

The actor further spoke about losing his wife, saying the death left him depressed and deeply hurt.

“It’s difficult for somebody in Nigeria to help you. When I lost my woman, you know, mother of my children, it’s deep, and it hurts. I was depressed a bit. Sometimes I’d miss her, and I just wanted to get out,” he said.

He said he has since found peace through his faith, despite betrayal by some friends.

Anuku had also rejected claims from social media videos that he was facing mental health problems, saying the reports damaged his reputation and career.
