The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released the credentials and personal details of President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The electoral body also made public the records of Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate Peter Obi and his running mate, Rabi’u Kwankwaso. The documents of African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar were also published.
Section 29(3) of the Electoral Act requires INEC to make the personal particulars of candidates available to the public within 21 days of receiving them. The provision gives voters and other stakeholders the chance to examine the documents submitted by those seeking elective positions.
The published records include academic certificates and other supporting documents submitted by the candidates as part of their nominations for elective offices.
The release of the documents comes ahead of the official start of campaigns for the 2027 presidential election, which is scheduled to begin on August 19.
