Three students of the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) have been abducted from an off-campus hostel in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital.
A student, who spoke anonymously for security reasons, told Daily Trust that the incident happened around 8:45 p.m. on Saturday at Sure Leaders Lodge in the Bukan Kwato area of the town.
The source said the victims are 100-level students of the university.
The abduction is the latest security breach involving FULafia students and has raised fresh concerns among students and parents about safety around off-campus hostels in Lafia.
As of the time of filing this report, the university management had not released an official statement on the incident.
However, sources in FULafia’s Information Unit said they were unaware of the reported abduction. They confirmed, however, that a female student of the institution had been attacked.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the Nasarawa State Command, SP Ramhan Nansel, confirmed the abduction, saying the students were taken on Saturday night.
“This happened Saturday night,” Nansel said.
