2027 Elections: ‘We Won’t Go To Court; All Matters Will Be Settled On The Streets,’ Says ADC Chieftain

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of backing attacks on opposition members as political activities ahead of the 2027 elections gather pace.

The party’s presidential campaign council deputy director-general, Dino Melaye, made the allegation during an interview on ARISE TV on Monday.

He claimed that ADC members and other opposition figures had faced attacks, including governorship candidates in Sokoto, Kaduna and Katsina. He also accused the APC of attacking members in Kogi State and targeting activist Sowore.

“We are following INEC and this government despite attacks on our members and opposition. They have killed some of our members in some places. Just few days ago, our governorship candidates in Sokoto, Kaduna and Katsina were attacked.

“In Kogi State, they (APC) injured people and destroyed properties. Few days ago, Sowore was attacked. There have been serious intimidation and harassment of opposition members out of desperation by the APC,” Mr Melaye alleged.

He warned that the ADC would defend its members against further attacks, adding that the party would not remain silent.

He also claimed the APC planned to stop the party’s aircraft from flying to Sokoto ahead of its Wednesday presidential campaign rally.

The allegations came hours after the Sokoto government sealed the ADC office ahead of the rally. Commissioner for Lands and Housing Nasiru Dantsoho said the move was to protect lives and property following a clash between ADC supporters and suspected troublemakers.
