Akanbi Elizabeth, widow of late gospel singer Olayemi Bayonile Bolaji, popularly known as Toluwanisings, broke down in tears while remembering her husband at a memorial held in Ibadan, Oyo State.
A video from the tribute night at Jogor Centre on Tuesday showed Elizabeth struggling to finish her speech as emotions took over.
“Toluwanisings, my dear husband. I will forever miss you. Please do not forget your children and I,” she said.
Several gospel artistes attended the event to honour the late singer. They included Adeyinka Alaseyori, Esther Igbekele, Laolu Gbenjo, Akintayo Akinwande, SB Live, Bidemi Olaoba, Mr Gbera, Peterson Okopi and Sarah Apekeola. Nollywood actress Bimbo Oshin was also present.
Toluwanisings died in Ibadan on October 14, 2026, after reportedly slumping. His death has led to controversy over alleged difficulties in getting him emergency medical care, disputes over his burial and calls for an investigation.
His personal assistant, Babadunni Gbolabo, claimed that efforts to get medical help took them to between seven and eight hospitals in Ibadan. The allegations raised public concerns about emergency medical services and the circumstances of his death.
A separate dispute has also emerged between Elizabeth and members of the singer’s paternal family over where he should be buried.
Meanwhile, his grandmother, Sabitiyu Olayemi, alleged that the singer had neglected her for years, adding to the family issues surrounding his death.
