Social media activist VeryDarkMan has questioned Pastor Ezekiel Dachomo’s recent call for Nigerians to pray for President Bola Tinubu, recalling the cleric’s earlier criticism of the government over insecurity.
In a video, VDM pointed to Dachomo’s past comments against Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima over allegations that they wanted to Islamise Nigeria.
“How did Reverend/Pastor Ezekiel Dachomo move from criticising Tinubu to campaigning for Tinubu? How he moved from Vice President Shettima and Tinubu wanting to Islamise Nigeria to praying for Tinubu’s administration? What changed?” he asked.
VDM also recalled that Dachomo had spoken out against insecurity in Plateau State, criticised the government and called for help from the United States.
He said these past actions made the cleric’s latest appeal for prayers for Tinubu surprising, although he admitted that praying for political leaders was not wrong.
“It is not a bad thing to pray for your leaders, but there’s something off,” he said.
The activist further suggested that the government might have contacted Dachomo, alleging that politicians use religious institutions to influence public opinion.
“Religion is a tool in the hands of the politician,” VDM said, arguing that such messages could make Nigerians believe help was coming instead of demanding accountability from those in power.
