I Enjoyed Myself During Vacation, I’m Hale, Healthy and Ready to Go — Pres. Tinubu Tells Nigerians

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has returned to Nigeria after spending about four weeks in Europe, saying he is healthy and ready to resume work.

Tinubu arrived in Lagos from Paris on Tuesday evening, where he spent the latter part of his working vacation. Asked about concerns over his health, the President said he remained fit to continue his duties.

“Rumours will always be emanate from politics. I am hale and strong. I am ready to work. The fact remains that I am here, healthy, sound and ready to go,” Tinubu said.

Asked how his vacation went, the President simply replied, “I enjoyed myself.”

The President left Nigeria on August 30 for London before travelling to Paris. The Presidency described the trip as a working vacation. He later extended his stay by a few days before returning on Tuesday.

His long absence sparked public and political debate, with opposition figures questioning his time abroad and his decision not to personally attend the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York.

The Presidency said Tinubu stayed in touch with Nigerian officials and continued directing government affairs. Vice President Kashim Shettima represented him at several events, including the UN General Assembly.

In France, Tinubu met President Emmanuel Macron and businessman Vincent Bolloré. His stay also included meetings with investors and talks on major projects, including the proposed Gateway Deep Sea Port in Ogun State.

Tinubu is expected to remain in Lagos for Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary on October 1 before returning to Abuja.
