Content creator Adebayo Ridwan, better known as Isbae U, has spoken about the tough period he faced in 2022 after being caught up in sex-for-roles allegations and leaked videos.
He said the backlash made him fear that his career was over, especially as people who once praised him started making negative comments.
Isbae U recalled asking fellow content creator Mr Macaroni if the controversy marked the end of his career.
“2022 was a tough time for me. It was the first time I was going through something like that, and then I asked Mr Macaroni, ‘Is this the end?’ This is because you never know how powerful people are in your life until they turn their backs on you.
“People who always commented positively started commenting negatively without caring about whatever you are going through. That is why it is called the public; they all have an opinion.”
He said he dealt with the situation by focusing on his craft and avoiding posts about his personal life.
“So, all I did was just focus on doing better, getting better at my craft and becoming a better person. I focused on giving them entertainment.
“I stepped back from posting anything about my life and I kept giving them entertainment. How they feel is their concern, and I focused on doing better.”
Speaking about his interview series, he said its goal is to reveal sides of celebrities the public has not seen. He also said he would like to interview US President Donald Trump.
“The idea of Curiosity Made Me Ask is to show you another part of this celebrity you’ve not seen.
“I would like to interview Trump,” he said.
In 2022, gossip site GistLover accused Isbae U of refusing to pay a lady who claimed he promised her money after explicit video calls. The site alleged she shared his explicit videos and asked for them to be posted because he had not paid her.
Isbae U later publicly apologised over the sex-for-roles allegations.
