A 28-year-old man, Falodun Tope Ernest, has appeared before a Chief Magistrate’s Court in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, over the alleged possession of 240 SIM cards and illicit drugs.
Prosecutor ASP Akinwale Oriyomi told the court that Ernest was allegedly found with the 240 SIM cards without lawful justification at about 3pm on Sept. 14, 2026, in Ado-Ekiti.
He also alleged that the defendant had illicit drugs in his possession at the same time and place.
According to the prosecutor, the alleged offences violate Section 345 of the Criminal Laws of Ekiti State 2021 and Section 5(b) of the Indian Hemp Act, LFN 2004.
Defence lawyer Oluwafemi Alabi asked the court to release Ernest on bail. He assured the court that his client would not abscond and would provide a credible surety.
Chief Magistrate Abayomi Adeosun later granted Ernest bail of N200,000, with two sureties in like sum.
The court adjourned the case until Oct. 20, 2026, for hearing.
