Al-Ittihad have taken a playful swipe at Cristiano Ronaldo and Al-Nassr after defeating the defending Saudi Pro League champions 2-1 on Saturday.
The result brought an end to Ange Postecoglou’s side’s perfect start to the league campaign, with all three goals coming before the break.
George Ilenikhena put Al-Ittihad in control by scoring twice within the opening 22 minutes, while Angelo Gabriel pulled one back for Al-Nassr before half-time.
Late in the match, Al-Ittihad’s coaching staff delivered tactical instructions to defender Danilo Pereira. Ronaldo was captured on camera trying to get a look at the note, prompting a light-hearted exchange between the two players.
Al-Ittihad later posted a picture of Ronaldo and Danilo on the pitch on social media, accompanying it with the caption: “Cheating and still losing!”
Al-Nassr dominated possession and produced nine shots on target, six more than their opponents, but failed to convert their chances as they suffered their first league defeat of the season.
The loss leaves Postecoglou’s men on 12 points, three behind leaders Al-Hilal, who have maintained a perfect record from their opening five games.
Al-Nassr remain second in the standings, level on points with third-placed Al-Qadsiyah but ahead on goal difference.
