A 45-year-old woman, Mrs Yaganama Abdul, suspected to be a family member of terrorists, has surrendered to Nigerian Army troops in Mafa Local Government Area of Borno State with her two children.
Abdul reportedly surrendered to troops of the 112 Task Force Battalion at about 4:00 p.m. on August 28 after escaping from the Burari terrorist enclave.
Her children were identified as Yafatai Abdul, 9, and Guja Abdul, 4.
During preliminary interrogation, troops learned that the family fled the enclave after violent clashes broke out between rival terrorist factions operating in the area.
The three escapees were later profiled and documented as part of ongoing security and intelligence procedures.
The development could help security agencies gather more information about activities and internal relations within the enclave, especially following the reported clashes.
The surrender also reflects continued military pressure on terrorist groups through sustained operations and intelligence-led activities across the North-East.
Meanwhile, the security situation across the theatre remains calm but unpredictable. Troops’ morale and fighting efficiency remain satisfactory.
Security forces continue efforts to weaken terrorist networks, protect communities and encourage those seeking to leave terrorist groups to surrender through established channels.
