Terrorists have reportedly attacked Igbesi community in Isin Local Government Area of Kwara State, abducting the traditional ruler, Oba Moses Oyinloye Iwedunmoye I, the Kabiyesi Onigbesi of Igbesi land.
The state Commissioner of Police, Ojo Adekimi, confirmed the monarch’s abduction but said no other person was kidnapped.
Igbesi is a community in Oke-Onigbin, Isin Local Government Area, within the Kwara South senatorial district. Oke-Onigbin is the hometown of the late former Minister of Communications and former Kwara State Governor, Chief Cornelius Adebayo.
The attack reportedly happened around 11:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 22, 2026, when terrorists invaded the quiet community.
Police command confirmed the monarch’s abduction.
Commissioner Adekimi said security operatives were working to rescue the traditional ruler. He also dismissed reports of other attacks in the area, saying, “The narrative of attacks within the past 24 hours is far from the truth; nothing of such”.
