Popular Nollywood actress Temitope Osoba has died at the age of 40.
Fellow actor Alesh Sanni announced her death on Wednesday in an emotional Instagram post. He said he had not been able to sleep since hearing the sad news and remembered Osoba as a dear sister with whom he shared many special moments.
He wrote, “Couldn’t sleep since last night, it’s well. Rest in peace my dearest sister, Temitope Osoba. We had amazing time and good memories together, till we meet again. I really dunno what to say mehn, gosh.”
Another actress, Adeyemo Seilat, also mourned Osoba on her Instagram Reel, writing, “Sigh! I hate to hear about the death of young people. Life is vanity! Rest in peace Tope Osoba. May you find eternal rest.”
As of the time this report was filed, the cause of her death had not been made public.
Her passing comes about two years after she revealed her battle with cancer and appealed for support for her treatment. After recovering, she announced her return to Nollywood on August 4, 2025, calling the experience a turning point.
She wrote, “Dear beloved fans, supporters, and loved ones, I’m Temitope Osoba, and after my cancer experience, I’m excited to announce my reintroduction. This journey has been a turning point, leading to my rebranding, reshaping, and rebuilding. I’m emerging stronger, more resilient, and more passionate about sharing my story and inspiring others.”
Osoba later said her new chapter would focus on healing, growth and empowerment. She also thanked her management team, revealed she was open to acting roles, endorsements and event collaborations, and remained known for her performances in Yoruba-language Nollywood films.
