Trabzonspor have completed one of the biggest signings of the summer after landing Mohamed Salah on a free transfer. The Egyptian forward has signed a two-year deal following the end of his time at Liverpool.
The Turkish club confirmed the move on Tuesday, bringing weeks of speculation over Salah’s future to an end after he became a free agent when his Liverpool contract expired.
Salah leaves Anfield as one of Liverpool’s greatest players. Across eight seasons, he scored 255 goals in 435 appearances. He also won two Premier League titles, the UEFA Champions League, the FA Cup, two League Cups, the FIFA Club World Cup and the UEFA Super Cup.
The transfer opens a new chapter for the 34-year-old, whose outstanding spell at Liverpool turned him into one of the most feared attackers of his generation.
Although several clubs from Europe and the Middle East showed interest, Trabzonspor beat the competition to secure his signature, adding one of the biggest free agents available this summer.
Salah is expected to lead Trabzonspor’s push for domestic trophies and play a key role in Europe as the Turkish club aims to strengthen its place on the continental stage.
