Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) clashed during a live political discussion on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday over President Bola Tinubu’s educational credentials.
The discussion focused on whether Tinubu can produce certificates from his primary and secondary schools to support his stated educational background. The programme, titled “2027 Presidential Candidates: The Credentials Debate,” revisited the issue as political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections gather pace.
Questions about Tinubu’s academic records have followed him through several election cycles. Before the 2023 presidential election, his Chicago State University certificate became the centre of legal and political disputes. The latest debate shifted attention to records from his primary and secondary education.
During the live programme, APC and ADC representatives disagreed over whether the issue deserves public attention or is simply a political distraction.
The discussion also generated mixed reactions on social media.
Reacting, @Bims73362652 wrote, “So he just obtained a Bachelor of Science, without a secondary school certificate? Nobody should tell me he attended one stupid homeschooling, make una dey deceive una self.”
Another user, @occp1967, posted, “Genuine question: why does asking a simple, factual question — ‘What primary, secondary, or university did Tinubu attend?’ — trigger so much aggression from APC supporters? It’s not an insult, it’s not propaganda, it’s just… a question.”
However, @ajala14843 defended the president, writing, “Last presidential election was all about Chicago State University Saga; this forthcoming presidential election is about his primary and secondary school certificate. It has shown how useless his opposition is.”
