Minister of State for Defence, Dr Bello Matawalle, has donated vehicles to eight members of the Zamfara State House of Assembly who recently returned to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The vehicles are meant to help the lawmakers return to Zamfara and resume political activities in their constituencies ahead of the 2027 general election.
The move is part of efforts to strengthen the APC’s grassroots structure in the state. It followed President Bola Tinubu’s directive for the lawmakers to return and help promote unity within the party.
Matawalle, a former Zamfara governor, reportedly ordered the immediate release of the vehicles to address the lawmakers’ transport challenges and support their political work.
Presenting the vehicles on the minister’s behalf, Managing Director of the Nigerian Agricultural Insurance Corporation (NAIC), Yazid Shehu Danfulani, said the gesture reflected Matawalle’s commitment to unity and understanding among party stakeholders.
Danfulani added that the minister remained committed to political stability and unity within the Zamfara APC. He said the donation would help the lawmakers reconnect with their constituents and mobilise support for the party.
APC stakeholders in the state described the move as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen reconciliation between Matawalle and the lawmakers. They said it would build trust and reinforce unity after months of internal disagreements.
Speaking for his colleagues, Hon. Aliyu Kagara thanked Matawalle and pledged their loyalty to the APC. He also promised that the lawmakers would work hard for Tinubu and the party’s success in the coming elections.
