2027: APC Chair Confirms Support From Opposition Figures

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has approached several opposition leaders to seek their support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027, National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda has confirmed.

Yilwatda disclosed this on Tuesday while hosting a delegation led by former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, from the Savannah Centre for Diplomacy, Democracy and Development.

He named Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo and Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike among those the party had approached.

According to him, the APC appealed to Adeleke and Soludo after losing elections against them in their respective states. He said both governors agreed to support Tinubu’s re-election.

He also revealed that Wike had agreed to work for Tinubu in Rivers State and the FCT.

Yilwatda said, “You see, the APC is doing a lot, and despite our achievements and accomplishments as a government, we are still not relaxing. We are not resting. We have been reaching out to all stakeholders, including our party members and even those who are not members of our party.

He explained that the party was seeking support beyond its membership, adding that its efforts were not limited to political gains.

“The interest goes beyond political parties. This is in the interest of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and that is why we are doing what we are doing.”

The APC chairman maintained that the party would continue engaging stakeholders across political lines, saying its goal was to promote Nigeria’s national interest.
