Brazilian winger Vinicius Junior has ended talk about his future after signing a new six-year contract with Real Madrid, keeping him at the Santiago Bernabéu until June 2032.
The 26-year-old was in the final year of his previous deal and had been linked with a move away from the Spanish club, with Arsenal reportedly among the teams following his situation.
Real Madrid confirmed on Thursday that both sides had agreed to extend his stay for another six years.
Reacting to the news, Vinicius wrote on Instagram: “Eight years at the Bernabéu are too short… Six more years, and then forever.”
Real Madrid described the Brazilian as one of the club’s key players during one of the most successful periods in its history.
“Vinicius Jr has become one of the most important players in one of the most successful periods in our history,” the club said.
Vinicius joined Madrid from Flamengo in July 2018 at the age of 18. Since then, he has made 375 appearances, scored 128 goals and won 14 major trophies, including two UEFA Champions League titles, three LaLiga titles, three Spanish Super Cups, one Copa del Rey, three FIFA Club World Cups and two UEFA Super Cups.
He scored in the 2022 UEFA Champions League final in Paris and the 2024 final in London as Real Madrid lifted their 14th and 15th European titles.
His individual honours include The Best FIFA Men’s Player award in 2024, the Golden Ball at the 2024 FIFA Intercontinental Cup, the UEFA Champions League Player of the Season award for 2023/24, and the Golden Ball at the 2022 FIFA Club World Cup. He has also been named in the FIFA World XI (2024), the FIFA FIFPro World11 in 2023 and 2024, and the UEFA Champions League Team of the Season three times.
