While many guests enjoyed TikTok couple Peller and Jarvis’ wedding, Seun Kuti had a very different experience as he walked out of the venue.
Videos shared online showed Fela Kuti’s son leaving the event in anger after the MC made an insensitive joke about his long-running clash with Grammy winner Wizkid. He was heard in the video saying, “we’re in the wrong place.”
The situation changed after the MC said Wizkid is bigger than Fela. The comment upset Seun, who immediately left the ceremony.
Seun had earlier criticised Wizkid’s fanbase, known as Wizkid FC, accusing them of always dragging his late father’s name into online music arguments. He maintained that calling any present-day artist the “new Fela” showed a poor understanding of his father’s legacy.
The disagreement grew after Wizkid declared himself bigger than the late Afrobeat icon and questioned Seun’s right to inherit his father’s greatness.
