Gunmen have killed the All Progressives Congress chairman of Rantan Ward in Bebeji Local Government Area of Kano State, Alhaji Garba Buba, and another resident, Sulaiman Zunduma.
The attack happened on Sunday night when suspected gunmen invaded Rantan community and opened fire, forcing residents to flee their homes.
A resident, Hamza Isah Rantan, confirmed the incident in a Facebook post, saying Buba was shot at his residence and later died in a hospital, while Zunduma died instantly.
He wrote, “On Sunday night, kidnappers attacked our town, Rantan, where they shot Alhaji Garab Buha, the APC ward chairman in Rantan, who later died in a hospital. They also killed another resident, Sulaiman Zunduma.
We pray that Almighty Allah forgives his shortcomings and heals the injured.”
Kano APC spokesperson, Auwalu Soja, also confirmed Buba’s death but said the party would issue an official statement.
The Kano State Police Command had yet to comment or confirm any arrest.
The attack came less than 24 hours after suspected bandits abducted the Sarkin Noman Kano, Alhaji Yusuf Nadabo Chiromawa, in Chiromawa, Garun Mallam LGA. He was later rescued unhurt.
Police said three residents were injured during the attack and launched a manhunt for the fleeing suspects.
