Barcelona have completed the signing of Gabriel Jesus from Arsenal for a reported £8.6m (€10m), with the Brazilian signing a contract until June 2029, BBC Sport reported on Tuesday.
The striker, who had attracted interest from Napoli, completed his medical on Monday. Jesus joined Arsenal from Manchester City in 2022 and made 123 appearances, scoring 32 goals and providing 22 assists. However, he fell behind Kai Havertz and Viktor Gyokeres in Mikel Arteta’s plans.
Jesus becomes Barcelona’s third signing from a Premier League club this summer, joining Karim Adeyemi, Jesse Bisiwu, Joao Cancelo and Dominik Livakovic.
The club said: “Arsenal and FC Barcelona have reached an agreement for the transfer of Gabriel Jesus to the blaugranes. The Brazilian striker signs on as a Culer for three seasons.
“Born in São Paulo, Brazil on 3 April 1997, Gabriel Jesus began his footballing career in his home town with Anhanguera. Then he made the move to the youth system of one of the country’s biggest clubs, Palmeiras of São Paulo. He made his debut for the team in March of 2015, winning the cup in 2015 and the league in 2016, and also was named best player in the Brazilian league in 2016,” Barcelona said.
At City, Jesus made 236 appearances, scoring 95 goals and assisting 45. He won four Premier League titles, one FA Cup, four League Cups and two Community Shields.
He joined Arsenal in July 2022, suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury in January 2025 and returned in December. He later helped Arsenal win the 2025/26 Premier League title with three goals in 14 appearances.
For Brazil, Jesus won Olympic gold in 2016, scoring three goals. He debuted for the senior team in September 2016 and featured at the 2018 and 2022 World Cups, as well as the 2019 and 2021 Copa América tournaments.
