The African Democratic Congress (ADC) says it will not rely only on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to safeguard its votes in the 2027 general election.
The party said it has already put measures in place to make sure every vote cast for its candidates is protected.
ADC National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, spoke on Wednesday in Ilorin, Kwara State, while addressing journalists during a road walk held to raise awareness about the party and its plans for the 2027 election.
Abdullahi said that while INEC has honest officials, the electoral process should not depend on trust alone. He said the party lost faith in the commission after the 2023 general election.
“We know what INEC is capable of. We trusted the commission during the 2023 general election, but the outcome left us disappointed. We will not make the same mistake again by relying only on trust,” he said.
He said the ADC is fully committed to protecting its votes nationwide and will not leave the election result to chance.
Abdullahi also said he believes President Bola Tinubu will lose the 2027 election, adding that the party will work to ensure every valid vote cast for its candidates is counted.
Although he did not disclose the party’s strategy, he maintained that the ADC already has a clear plan to defend its votes during the election.
