28-Year-Old Man Stabs His 21-Year-Old Friend To Death Over Roasted Meat In Adamawa

A 28-year-old man, Ibrahim Augustine, has been arrested by the Adamawa State Police Command over the alleged killing of his 21-year-old friend, Haggai Markus, during a disagreement over roasted meat in Mubi North Local Government Area.

The incident happened around 8pm on November 4, 2026, at Mararaban Vimtim. The two friends reportedly had an argument over roasted meat taken from a butcher’s table.

According to a statement released on Thursday by the police spokesperson, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, Augustine allegedly grabbed a knife during the argument and stabbed Markus in the chest.

The victim’s father, Markus Gabo, reported the incident to the police at about 8:45pm. Officers from the Mubi North Division arrived at the scene and found Markus lying dead in a pool of blood.

The police recovered a sharp knife suspected to have been used in the attack and arrested Augustine, who is now in custody.

Markus was taken to the Federal Medical Centre, Mubi, where a doctor confirmed his death.

Nguroje said the suspect and the case diary would be handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and prosecution.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Kabir Umar Hassan, expressed his condolences to the victim’s family and assured them that justice would be served.

He also appealed to residents to settle disagreements peacefully and report disputes to the police instead of resorting to violence.
