The FCT Police Command has arrested a man identified as Pastor Edwin Nwabueze and his alleged accomplice, Sadiq Jamiu, over suspected involvement in a vehicle theft network operating across several states in Nigeria.
Their arrest followed an investigation into the theft of a Toyota Camry at UTC Plaza in the Garki District of Abuja.
In a statement released on Friday, the FCT Police spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, identified Nwabueze as a native of Oji River, Enugu State, who lives in Benue State. He reportedly presents himself as a pastor at Salvation Power Bible Ministry in the North Bank area of the state.
Adeh said police operatives arrested him at his residence on October 27, 2026, after an extended investigation. He later took the officers to another location, where Jamiu was also arrested.
The police further disclosed that preliminary findings linked Nwabueze to previous arrests by the Benue State Police Command over vehicle theft cases.

Investigations also suggest that both men belong to a wider network involved in stealing and selling vehicles across different states.
The Command said efforts were ongoing to uncover the full activities of the group and arrest other members still at large.
Both suspects remain in police custody and will be charged in court after investigations are completed.
Residents were also urged to stay alert and report suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
The police provided 08032003913 and 08061581938 as emergency contact numbers for reporting security concerns.
