Nigerian actor and traditional spiritualist KingLade has stirred reactions after accusing pastors and Islamic clerics of patronising traditional spiritual practitioners despite their religious beliefs.
Speaking on the ClarityZone Podcast, he claimed that religious leaders are among the main customers of babalawos.
“There are two key customers of a babalawo, and those are the clergymen and the Islamic clerics,” he said.
KingLade also alleged that many sellers of items used for traditional spiritual practices and alchemy are Yoruba Muslim women. According to him, imams, Alfas, Wolis and pastors visit their shops.
“When you are there trying to buy whatever it is, you will find an Imam coming there. You will find an Alfa coming there. You will find a Woli coming there. Pastors would come to Babalawos and they would do whatever it is that they want to do. They will go to church and give glory to Jesus,” King Lade stated.
The actor also spoke about his religious upbringing, revealing that he grew up in a Christian home under the care of a deaconess and a pastor.
“Fortunately or unfortunately, I was born a Christian. I was raised by a deaconess and a pastor.”
He later criticised churches and pastors, accusing them of using religion to run fraudulent operations.
“Every church is a fraud syndicate. They all know what they are doing. Every pastor is a fraud,” he declared.
