Nollywood actress Eniola Badmus has apologised to her colleague, Laide Bakare, after facing backlash over her reaction to Bakare’s name during a recent podcast interview.
Badmus shared the apology on Instagram on Tuesday, days after a video from her appearance on Isbae U’s Curiosity Made Me Ask podcast went viral.
During the interview, the host named Bakare as one of his favourite actresses. Badmus responded with a hiss and a change in facial expression, triggering online reactions and renewed discussions about their troubled relationship.
Addressing the incident, Badmus admitted that her reaction may have appeared dismissive.
“On reflection, I realise my reaction when Laide Bakare’s name was mentioned during my recent interview could have come across as dismissive, and for that, I sincerely apologise,” she wrote.
She also addressed Bakare directly, saying, “Laide, whatever our differences, I choose peace and I genuinely wish you well.”
Badmus added that maturity means learning from past experiences and moving forward.
“We’re all growing, learning and becoming better versions of ourselves. Sometimes maturity is simply knowing when to let go and move forward,” she stated.
She ended her message by writing, “Joo maa binu. No negativity. No grudges. Let love lead and peace reigns.”
The actresses have had public disagreements in the past, including an incident in March 2024 when Badmus appeared to mock Bakare’s outfit at her book launch.
Badmus wrote on Instagram, “Ewo ninu yin lo wo Aso Pastor Ajidara. Abeg who??”
Bakare expressed disappointment, questioning why a colleague she considered a childhood friend from their University of Ibadan days would criticise her instead of celebrating her achievement.
