Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have repelled a Boko Haram attack in Garaha, Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State, killing six insurgents and recovering weapons and other military equipment.

Mohammed Goni, the operation’s spokesman, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday. He said the insurgents approached the military position on foot from the LAR axis before launching their attack at about 9:07 p.m.

“The terrorists, who advanced on foot from the LAR axis, launched the attack at approximately 9:07 p.m. in an attempt to overrun the military position.

“However, troops responded with superior firepower and tactical coordination, decisively repelling the assault and forcing the terrorists to retreat,” he said.

According to Goni, the recovered items included one PKT machine gun, three ammunition belts containing 67 rounds, six AK-47 rifles, 11 AK-47 magazines, 157 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition, 120 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition and one 60mm mortar bomb.

Other items found were an Infinix Android phone, a Canon portable video recorder, three camelback water bags, one magazine carrier and assorted clothing.

Goni confirmed that soldiers suffered casualties during the clash. He said the injured troops were receiving medical care, while arrangements were underway to evacuate them.

He added that troops remained on high alert and continued searching nearby areas to prevent further attacks and recover more items of operational importance.
