A Nigerian lawyer has advised men on the steps to take if a female partner suddenly loses consciousness or dies in their home, warning them against fleeing the scene.
The video guide comes amid several high-profile cases involving women who died under mysterious circumstances while visiting their lovers.
The lawyer outlined three key steps: take the woman to the hospital immediately, contact a lawyer if doctors confirm her death, and report the incident to the police with legal representation.
‘’You must not conclude that they are dead. Some women have medical conditions that make them pass out during and after sexual intercourse. It is called coital syncope or more precisely post coital vasovagal syncope. Medical practitioners will confirm whether they are dead” he said
He stressed that men should not speak to anyone else before contacting a qualified lawyer if the woman is confirmed dead.
‘’Go and report yourself to the police station immediately. Don’t run away. Go to the police station immediately. Go and make a statement. Once you do that, police officers will commence their own investigation. The fact that a lady died in your house does not mean you are automatically guilty. The presumption in law is still in your favour. You are innocent until contrary is proven.
Once the investigation is commenced, an autopsy will be conducted as to determine the real cause of their death.
Upon the conclusion of the autopsy, your legal liability will be determined as to whether you are guilty of murder to not. If you are very certain that you did not k!ll them or have any hand in their cause of death, trust me, you will be vindicated.”
He concluded by warning that men involved in such cases should expect to remain in police custody while investigations continue.
