Petrol prices have gone up at MRS and other filling stations in Nigeria, with motorists in Abuja and nearby areas now paying more for a litre of fuel.
A market survey on Monday morning found that MRS stations raised their pump price from N1,370 to N1,409 per litre, an increase of N39 over the weekend.
The new rate is already in place at MRS outlets in Kubwa, Katampe, Gwarimpa and other parts of Abuja.
Ranoil and AA Rano have also increased their petrol prices by N10 per litre, moving from N1,400 to N1,410 across their outlets.
The price increases come as the Federal Government, through the Minister of Finance, Taiwo Oyedele, proposed reducing petrol prices to N1,350 per litre at Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) filling stations.
However, fuel retailers and marketers want the government to extend the price reduction plan to other filling stations, rather than limit it to NNPCL outlets.
