Ex-Boss Roberto Mancini Says City Charges ‘Not My Concern’

Roberto Mancini has dismissed questions about his contract during his time at Manchester City, saying the matter was the club’s “issue, not mine”.

Mancini managed City from 2009 to 2013, winning the club’s first English top-flight title in 44 years and an FA Cup.

The former City manager was speaking after reports that the club had been found guilty of all but one of 115 Premier League charges over alleged financial rule breaches.

Some of the allegations involve failing to provide accurate details about payments to players and managers over nine seasons, starting from Mancini’s first year in charge.

“It’s not an issue that concerns me. It’s nothing new because this matter has been discussed for the last four or five years,” Mancini, now Italy coach, told reporters before his team’s UEFA Nations League game in Turkey.

“Manchester City has not been found guilty, and the alleged double contract is not my concern. It’s their issue, not mine.”

Reports on Friday said an independent commission found City guilty of 114 charges. However, the Premier League has not made an official announcement, and no firm details are known about any punishment.

City has strongly denied the charges. Chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak also said on Saturday that he remains confident the club will prove its innocence.

City are expected to appeal any punishment, which could include a points deduction, Premier League expulsion or a huge fine.
