The wife of Delta State content creator Ifeanyi Ogbonna, popularly known as Odogwu of Asaba, has defended her husband against allegations that he raped 20-year-old Favour Agbro, who later died after ingesting a toxic substance.
In a video posted on Ogbonna’s page on Wednesday, the woman said her husband only had an affair with the deceased and insisted she would continue to stand by him.
The Delta State Police Command had arrested 40-year-old Ogbonna over the alleged rape. Police said he invited Favour to Asaba under the guise of teaching her content creation before taking her to a hotel, where he allegedly raped and assaulted her.
Rejecting the allegation, Ogbonna’s wife said, “Odogwu Asaba did not kill anybody. I know my husband…. Odogwu Asaba did not rape Favour. Odogwu Asaba only had an affair with the girl.”
She added, “He cannot rape, he has never. Even when he did not have fame, he did not rape anybody, is it now?”
The woman said she had followed the case closely before deciding to speak, adding, “I am trying to follow the matter the right way; I have not been silent. I want to let you people know that no matter what happened, he is my husband and I stand with him 100%. I’m not going to turn my back on him.”
She also warned against treating social media as a courtroom, saying, “Social media is not a courtroom. You people should bear that in mind.”
She acknowledged Favour’s death and said Ogbonna would give his own account when he returns.
The couple has been married for eight years and has four children.
Police said Favour travelled to Asaba on June 1, 2026, after Ogbonna allegedly offered to teach her how to monetise her TikTok and Facebook pages through content creation. She later returned home distressed, told her parents about the alleged incident and recorded a video before ingesting a toxic substance.
She died while receiving treatment.
Police said her family’s petition led to Ogbonna’s arrest and that investigations were ongoing. The command later said he would be charged to court.
Ogbonna has not been convicted, and the rape allegation remains under investigation and subject to the legal process.
