The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology chapter in Okitipupa, Ondo State, has begun an indefinite strike over the state government’s failure to implement the 2025 Federal Government-ASUU agreement.
Speaking on Wednesday in Okitipupa, the chapter’s chairman, Oluwatoyin Ogunbamike, said the action was necessary because the agreement had not been implemented by the state government.
He said the strike was total, comprehensive and indefinite until the government implements the 2025 FG-ASUU agreement, including the 40 per cent Current Consolidated Salary Scale, Earned Academic Allowance and Consolidated Academic Tool Allowance.
“Others are professorial allowance, responsibility allowance, and supervision allowance, as well as other non-monetary components of the agreement. In spite of the state being an oil-producing one, the government of the day is not responsive to educational development,” he added.
Meanwhile, Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), another state-owned institution, also began an indefinite strike on Tuesday over the same failure by the state government to implement the 2025 FG-ASUU agreement.
