Afrobeats star David Adeleke, better known as Davido, has reacted to President Bola Tinubu’s move in the dispute between the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Osun State Government, calling it a historic moment.
Davido, a nephew of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, made the remark after presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga revealed that Tinubu told the governor he had directed the EFCC to lift the court order freezing the state government’s account.
“I was there live! I witnessed history!!!” the singer wrote in a post on X on Thursday.
Earlier, Davido publicly backed his uncle ahead of the August 15 Osun governorship election. Sharing photos of himself with the governor, he wrote, “We got this #aadeleke_01 God got us.”
The issue followed the EFCC’s decision to freeze the Osun State Government’s account over alleged financial matters, a move that attracted criticism from the state government.
Tinubu later instructed the EFCC to return to court and seek the removal of the order, saying he was concerned about the timing of the action with the governorship election just days away.
Onanuga said Tinubu also informed Governor Adeleke during a phone conversation on Thursday about his directive to the anti-graft agency.
