Gospel singer Tope Alabi has threatened legal action against Canada-based pastor Tayo Kumuyi, known as Pastor Tayo Ministries, over social media allegations linking her to the deaths of gospel singer Toluwanisings and other ministers.
Her lawyers, Oakmount Legal Practitioners, issued a cease-and-desist letter dated October 24, 2026, demanding that the Facebook page remove the posts, retract the claims and apologise within 24 hours.
The letter said posts published between October 20 and 24 accused Alabi of murder and ritual killing. Her lawyers rejected the claims, stating, “These statements accuse our client of murder and of ritual killing. There is no more serious allegation that can be made against a person, least of all a minister of the gospel. They are false in every particular.”
They said no evidence, police findings or court decisions supported the allegations. The lawyers added that Alabi had mourned Toluwanisings privately and publicly and had no involvement in his death.
The letter also cited a post allegedly directed at Alabi after her October 23 public warning against defamation. It quoted the pastor as saying, “Tope Alabi, no letter will save you from my hand. Your only option is leaving your hiding place.”
Her lawyers described the statement as a threat and said the posts had attracted hundreds of reactions, comments and shares.
They demanded an apology pinned to the Facebook page for 14 days, an end to further allegations and preservation of relevant evidence.
The lawyers warned that failure to comply could lead to court action, damages, complaints to Meta Platforms and referrals to law enforcement.
The letter was signed by Toluwanimi Okunade on Alabi’s behalf.
Toluwanisings, whose real name was Olayemi Bayonile Bolaji, died on October 14, 2026, aged 41. Alabi publicly mourned him after his death.
