The Osun State Police Command has arrested Taye Kasali of Bose Osi over the alleged murder of his mother, Kudirat Kasali.
Police said the suspect allegedly killed his mother and buried her body in a shallow grave on the family farm.
According to Police Public Relations Officer Abiodun Ojelabi, the matter was reported on September 1, 2026, after Kudirat and her son were declared missing.
“Following the report, Police operatives commenced investigation and, through intelligence-led investigation, the suspect, one Taye Kasali ‘m’ (son), was arrested on 7th September 2026 in connection with the crime.”
Ojelabi said the suspect confessed during interrogation, claiming his mother called him a mad person and threatened to lease out the farmland, which was the family’s main source of livelihood.
He allegedly confessed that he killed her on August 31, 2026, “by slitting her throat with a machete” before burying her on the farm.
Police said Kasali later led officers to the grave, where they recovered the remains and the machete allegedly used.
Commissioner Ibrahim Zungura ordered a thorough investigation and directed that the suspect be charged to court after the probe.
