Tragedy has struck Ogungbade village, near Ayerose village in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State, after Tajudeen Yekini allegedly killed his wife, Tioyin Edunjobi, in their apartment.
The incident happened around 10:30pm on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, while their son was present.
The cause of the disagreement was not immediately known. Residents said the couple’s son raised the alarm, prompting neighbours to rush in and find Tioyin lying motionless.
Police from Kemta Police Station were alerted and visited the scene. A police source told Vanguard that detectives evacuated the woman’s body to a mortuary and arrested her husband.
“Detectives from the station visited the scene, evacuated the body and deposited it at the mortuary. The suspect is currently in police custody. Investigation is ongoing,” the source said.
About 24 hours earlier, another wife, Odukoya Adenike, allegedly died after her husband, Odukoya Bidemi, hit her against a wall during an argument in Ibogun Akinode.
The incident was reported around 2am on August 31, 2026. Bidemi reportedly fled but died in a road accident at Iyana Coker Bus Stop, via Ifo.
Police later confirmed his body.
“Photographs were taken for identification, and it was confirmed that the body was indeed that of the alleged suspect who had earlier killed his wife,” the source added.
Adenike’s family has asked police to release her remains for burial.
