Troops of Operation Enduring Peace have rescued two kidnapped victims, Ndubuisi Onuigbo and Sambo Abdullahi, during military operations across local government areas in Plateau State.
The operation’s spokesperson, Chinonso Oteh, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday. He said the rescue of Onuigbo followed an operation carried out at about 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday after troops received credible information about his abduction.
“Acting on credible information on the kidnap of one Mr Ndubuisi Onuigbo, initiated a search and rescue operation leading to the successful rescue of the kidnapped victim,” Mr Oteh.
Oteh added that in the early hours of Wednesday, troops deployed at Kukawa village in Kanam Local Government Area encountered suspected terrorists during a fighting patrol.
“Troops aggressively pursued the terrorists leading to the immediate rescue of a kidnapped victim Mallam Sambo Abdullahi who was abandoned by the fleeing terrorists,” he noted.
The two victims were later debriefed and reunited with their families.
The operation commander, Major General Maxwell Dangana, praised the troops for their professionalism and decisive action in disrupting criminal activities.
He also called for calm, caution and continued support as the troops work to restore the desired Enduring Peace in the Joint Operations Area.
